Canberra playmaker Blake Austin will likely be fit to take on ladder leaders Melbourne in Monday night's NRL clash, providing a major boost for the rising Raiders.

Scans have cleared Austin of any serious shoulder damage after he was injured while scoring the match-sealing try against Cronulla on Saturday night.

Austin will still need to pass a fitness test before taking his spot in the third-placed Raiders side for the home clash with the Storm.

Any serious injury to Austin would have put a massive dampener on the Raiders' top four hopes.

They are currently three points clear of fifth-placed North Queensland with four rounds remaining before the finals.

Austin has scored seven tries in 15 games this year, and he plays an integral part of the Raiders' attack which is ranked No.1 in the league this season.

The Raiders are already without attacking bench utility Kurt Baptiste, who is still recovering from a minor foot strain in a bid to be back before the finals.

Regular Raiders forward Paul Vaughan will also need to pass a fitness test before returning to the field after injuring his sternum in reserve grade last week.

Meanwhile the club confirmed rookie Lachlan Croker underwent a successful surgery on his knee last week, after also injuring himself in reserve grade.
