Raiders eager for rare NRL win in Brisbane

Canberra will mix things up as they aim to win their first game against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium since 2010, by flying early to settle in ahead of the clash.

Canberra will head to Queensland early this week as they look to rectify their dismal NRL record at Suncorp Stadium.

The Raiders have just one victory at the Broncos' home ground since 2005 and are now gearing up for their clash with Brisbane on Saturday night.

The ninth-placed Green Machine will fly out from Canberra on Tuesday morning before spending time on the Gold Coast ahead of the match.

The camp was booked long ago, but the Raiders are after any edge they can get to secure their first away win against the Broncos since 2010.

Before that victory eight years ago, you have to go back to 2004, meaning Brisbane have won nine of their past 10 against the Raiders in Queensland.

But Canberra skipper Jarrod Croker says his team will take confidence out of already ending a hoodoo this year.

The Raiders won their first game in Townsville for 12 years when they defeated North Queensland in round eight.

"You don't look too far into records but we hadn't won in Townsville in my time at the club so the way we won there was very satisfying," Croker said.

"We tend to get away and play some pretty good footy when we spend a lot time together.

"You look at away trips and it's (Brisbane) one of the tougher ones you'll have all year so get up there early and prepare as best we can is only going to help us."

The game will shape the Raiders' season as a win will put them only a game outside of the top eight.

But a defeat means the Broncos will build a six-point gap in eighth on the ladder, shutting down the momentum the Raiders built from smashing Wests Tigers 48-12 before the representative bye.
