Rain halts play in NZ-Windies second Test

The West Indies are 2-87 in reply to New Zealand's 373 but rain has stopped play in the second session of the second day of the second Test.

Rain has interrupted play in the second session of the second Test between New Zealand and the West Indies in Hamilton.

The covers went on the Seddon Park pitch about 2.30pm on Sunday with the tourists 2-87 in reply to New Zealand's first innings of 373.

Kraigg Brathwaite was 45 not out and Shai Hope unbeaten on 14.

One wicket fell in the 50 minutes of play after lunch.

Shimron Hetmyer (28) was looking aggressive until he lobbed a ball back to Trent Boult, who took a good one-handed catch.

Brathwaite had a life on 14 when an edge went through Tom Latham at second slip.

Before lunch, Tim Southee had opener Kieran Powell caught behind for a duck in the first over of the visitors' innings.

It was just after Southee and Trent Boult put on 61 for the last wicket.

One of Southee's two sixes went into the trees above the temporary seating before he was dismissed for 31.

The highlight of Boult's unbeaten 37 was a ramp shot off Kemar Roach for six.

The hosts had started the second day at 7-286.

New Zealand lead the two-match series 1-0 after their innings and 67-run victory in Wellington.
