"I am very happy to join and I will do my best to win," the 35-year-old Alves told Rangers' website. (rangers.co.uk)

"The main reason that I come here, I have this feeling and desire to win and to move here will bring this back to me and my career."

Alves has won numerous titles at his previous clubs, including four Premeira Liga titles with Porto. He also has 89 caps for Portugal and was named in the European champions' squad competing at the upcoming Confederations Cup in Russia.
