Rapana inks two-year NRL deal with Raiders

Canberra winger Jordan Rapana has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the club until at least the end of 2019.

Canberra have locked down one of the stars pushing them into NRL premiership contention with winger Jordan Rapana signing a two-year contract extension.

The 27-year-old will stay with the Raiders until the end of 2019 on the back of an outstanding 2016, in which he began a lethal right-edge combination with Joey Leilua.

"I've found my home here now in Canberra. I love all the boys and we are coached by a wonderful coach," Rapana said on Friday.

The New Zealand international has risen to become one of the NRL's most damaging wingers and took his strong form to last year's Four Nations tournament where he scored three tries in four matches for the Kiwis.

"I wouldn't have thought for the life of me that I would end up here, especially coming from rugby union," Rapana said.

"Now it's one of the best decisions I've made."

Rapana, who spent time with Super Rugby sides the Western Force and the Brumbies between 2012 and 2014, said he was over the moon to secure a two-year deal with the Raiders having previously been on one-year contracts.

"I love the club and the culture is awesome," Rapana said.

"I really feel that we've got a premiership in us."
