A time-lapse movie of the Earth from space is giving insights into the views enjoyed by astronauts aboard the International Space Station as they go about their work.
The movie is the creation of science teacher James Drake.
Wanting to illustrate the view from space of an ISS astronaut, he downloaded 600 still images from the Johnson Space Center's photography database and stitched them together.

The result is a spectacular time-elapsed view of the North and South American Pacific coast.
