A rare white Kiwi chick is believed to be the first hatched in captivity.

Staff at Pukaha Mount Bruce Sanctuary in New Zealand are hand rearing it on mince and vegetables.

The Kiwi has been named Manukura which in Maori means "of chiefly status".

His parents are North Island brown Kiwis.

It's uncertain whether he'll be released because his colour could make him vulnerable to predators.
