Australian two-time 400 metre hurdles world champion Jana Rawlinson has backed away from the idea of switching allegiances to Britain for the London 2012 Olympics.
The Nine Network reported on Sunday that Rawlinson was considering the move but when the news broke she made a verbal commitment to Athletics Australia head coach Eric Hollingsworth.
"She's Australian and she's staying that way," Hollingsworth told News Limited.
UK 'looks after athletes better'
Rawlinson had said she was disappointed at the lack of support from Athletics Australia, saying British athletes were given more.
"I do look at what British Athletics does for their athletes and they are much better supported," she was quoted as saying.
"I feel like I have been left by the wayside (by AA).
"I have the potential to be an Olympic champion and AA doesn't care."
Australia tattoos adorn arms
Whatever her feelings, time would have been against a move.
"You need to have been a resident for three years to get a British passport and I'm not even a resident," said Rawlinson, who recently re-married her British husband, Chris.
"Even if I considered it, I love Australia. I still wear Australian tattoos on my arms."
An Athletics Australia source told News Limited talk of a move to Britain was a "bit rich", given the support she'd been given - more than $500,000 over the past decade.
"Even over the past couple of years when she hasn't run, the sport has still been helping her out. You would hope that that amounts for something when it comes down to the crunch."
