Reactions to Adam Goodes documentary

Advanced screenings of an Adam Goodes documentary produced using archival footage has prompted emotive responses from a range of individuals.

WHAT THEY'VE SAID ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY 'THE FINAL QUARTER'

Eddie Betts (Adelaide forward, Indigenous great): "It was shocking to watch ... it is full on and that's why I felt so guilty. I urge everyone to watch."

Ian Darling (director): "It was a very emotional response (from Goodes). I think it was very, very difficult for him to watch ... it can be quite a claustrophobic film. There's nowhere to hide".

Patrick Dangerfield (AFLPA president): "We, as players, feel incredibly sad for what Goodesy went through .... we implore all footy fans to watch the documentary and let it serve as a timely reminder of the devastation that racism inflicts."

Jarrad McVeigh (Sydney captain when Goodes retired): "I was upset, angry and just thinking ' did I do enough, as a mate'. His legacy will reach far beyond football and for generations to come. That's a pretty great thing, for him to have started something and improved society."

Dane Rampe (current Sydney captain): "It was very confronting ... his (Goodes') composure and the clarity with which he spoke was really inspiring and really impressive."

Karen Mundine (Reconciliation Australia chief executive): "I was in tears by the end ... it's an uncomfortable film to watch but it's an important film."

Gillon McLachlan (AFL chief executive, whose belated response to the booing in 2015 is documented in the movie): "It has been an emotional response. It is a very powerful film."

Eddie McGuire (Collingwood president, who suggested Goodes be used to promote the musical King Kong in 2013): "You're heartbroken that Adam felt at the end the game he served so well had forsaken him ... we have to learn from that. That's why I encourage people to go (and watch)."
