Reactions to Greek earthquake

People have reacted with shock and horror as an earthquake hit the Greek tourist island of Kos, killing two.

People on and around the Greek resort island of Kos have taken to social media to describe the unfolding drama as a strong earthquake struck in the early hours of Friday.

The earthquake felt "like a bomb" - Ellen Pantelakis writing on Facebook from Kos.

The "building just seemed to wobble like a boat" - Paul Bresy tweeted.

Noshi told AAP she woke up screaming after being flung out of her bed about 1.30am by the "horrifically strong" earthquake.

"Holt goly@shit just witnessed a major #earthquake in #kos #scary scary" - Rob Porter tweeting from Kos.

The earthquake was "absolute mental, never felt anything like it" - Ally in Kos tweeted.

"Fook me just woke up to the hotel shaking like a leaf " - Lee Norfolk tweeting from the nearby Greek island of Rhodes

"The chair I was sitting on moved side to side as did the bed" Tracey Howitt writing on Facebook from the Greek port city of Fethiye.

" I felt a small shudder for 2 seconds then it started for at least 10 seconds! Biggest I've ever felt!" Linda Emerson wrote on Facebook after rushing to rescue her two dogs from the roof of her terrace.
