Redbacks in command of Tigers in Shield

South Australia are in total control of Tasmania entering day two of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

South Australia are in a commanding position against Tasmania entering day two of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

After bowling the Tigers out for a meagre 98, the Redbacks are 2-222 in reply with opener Jake Weatherald unbeaten on 110 and captain Travis Head not out 37.

Tasmania's batting was wrecked by SA speedster Chadd Sayers, who took 6-32, while Australia's Test 12th man Joe Mennie claimed two wickets.

Sayers says the SA batsmen will now be looking to bat Tasmania out of the contest on Saturday's second day of play.

"It's always nice to get a few wickets early in the season but even better to get them all out for just over 90, which puts us in a good position in the game," Sayers said.

"Our batters have started well so hopefully we can go on with it."
