A Travis Head century has given South Australia the honours over Queensland on day one of the first Sheffield Shield match to be played in Cairns.
The South Australian skipper dominated proceedings on a slow wicket at Cazaly's Stadium to score 132 as the Redbacks ended the day on 8-328.
Head played shots to all parts of the ground and hit 15 fours to bring up his sixth first-class ton off 130 balls.
It was a timely captain's knock from Head after SA crashed to a hefty unexpected defeat against bottom side Tasmania last weekend.
Head shared a 136-run stand for the fourth wicket with Jake Lehmann (43) in a crucial partnership on a day when wickets fell in clumps.

After Jake Weatherald departed in the opening overs of the match, John Dalton (53) and Callum Ferguson (43) went in quick succession after lunch.
Lehmann fell to part-timer Marnus Labuschagne one ball after Head brought up his ton, and Tom Cooper quickly followed for a duck.
Up-and coming wicketkeeper Alex Carey chimed in with a timely 39 not out late in the day.
Leg-spinner Mitch Swepson took the bowling honours (5-106) including the key wickets of Head and Ferguson.
While spinners took a large chunk of the bowling duties for Queensland, South Australia will be looking to Chadd Sayers on day two after the seamer was omitted Australia's side for the day/night Test in Adelaide.
