Redmond hangs on to leadership role

Isobel Redmond has been re-elected unopposed as the South Australian Liberal leader, following the party's loss in the state's election.

While failing to topple Mike Rann's Labor government at the election, Ms Redmond, who was first appointed Liberal leader in June last year, oversaw a rejuvenated party which gained a seven per cent swing.

Her deputy is former Liberal leader Martin Hamilton-Smith, who defeated Iain Evans 10 votes to eight.

Former deputy Steven Griffiths did not contest the position.
