Queensland flanker Angus Scott-Young is free to face the Rebels on Saturday after escaping suspension for foul play.
There were fears the 21-year-old was facing an extended stint on the sideline after he was cited for striking Brumbies prop James Slipper with a closed fist at a stoppage last weekend.
But Wednesday night's judicial hearing determined that Scott-Young was making a "legitimate, albeit clumsy, attempt to clean out his opponent" and that an official warning was sufficient.
Judicial committee chairman Robert Stelzner said video review of the incident found that it did not meet the red card threshold because initial contact was with Slipper's back and shoulders, with only glancing impact on the former Reds captain's head.
"The player's explanation for the incident, including his attempt to protect his previously injured hand by closing his fist during the clean out, revealed absence of malicious intent," he added.
"It was decided that while the citing was warranted in that there had been contact between the player's hand and the back of his opponent's head ... this was not intentional nor so reckless as to have warranted a red card on the field."
Scott-Young's availability will be a boost for Reds coach Brad Thorn given his own form and the side's steady development as they aim for a third-straight win in what will be discarded Reds No.10 Quade Cooper's first visit to Suncorp Stadium as a Rebel.
