Reef grant report delayed to December

An inquiry into the Great Barrier Reef Foundation has been granted more time to consider evidence about whether $444 million was properly approved.

A report on how an environmental charity received $444 million in taxpayer funding without a proper tender process has been delayed for release until December.

The Senate's environment committee is inquiring into how the Great Barrier Reef Foundation received the grant.

The inquiry report was due to be released on Tuesday but will now be handed down on December 4, possibly following more public hearings and submissions.
