Regional MPs up push for media reform

As more metropolitan broadcasters announce they will stream content online, regional MPs are ramping up their call for changes to media law.

Regional MPs are increasing their push for a shake-up to media laws as another metropolitan broadcaster is due to announce it will stream channels online.

Ahead of an expected announcement from Channel Nine, Liberal backbencher Angus Taylor says regional networks are getting close to being unviable businesses.

"I think it is happening faster than most people had expected, the streaming of live content from the metropolitan stations into regional areas is just another example of how quickly this is unfolding," he told ABC radio on Wednesday.
