Human remains found in bushland in Perth are believed to be those of a missing Somali man.

Abdulahi Mohamad Igal, 26, was reported missing last month.

The remains, found in Mirrabooka bushland on Monday, have yet to be formally identified.

"Detectives believe the remains are those of Mr Igal and they remain in contact with his family," police said.

Mr Igal's distraught loved ones reportedly conducted their own investigation into his disappearance, saying a friend had confessed to stabbing Mr Igal before fleeing to Somalia.
