Queensland's RSL says Remembrance Day is as relevant as ever.
People across the world will pause at 11am on Friday to mark annual Remembrance Day commemorations for those who lost their lives in war.
More than 102,000 Australian servicemen and women have been killed in a range of conflicts since before federation, and the RSL is urging everyone across the country to honour their sacrifice.
RSL Queensland state president Stewart Cameron said Remembrance Day remained "as relevant today as it ever has been".
"The loss of ADF personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan is still painfully felt and today in Syria our servicemen and women are risking their own lives in the cause of freedom," Mr Cameron said.

The state's largest Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at Brisbane's Shrine of Remembrance in Anzac Square.
