Skipper Amy Satterthwaite has helped the Melbourne Renegades capture a thrilling win in their WBBL derby clash with Melbourne Stars at Marvel Stadium.

The New Zealand international finished with 3-16 and then made a game-high 37 off 32 balls as the Renegades edged past the Stars' lowly total of 130 to book their third win of the tournament.

The Renegades needed three runs off the final over after Georgia Wareham was caught off the final ball of the 19th over, with Lea Tahuhu joining Courtney Webb at the crease.

Tahuhu delivered under pressure, hitting the winning run to secure a one-wicket win with one ball to spare in a highly-charged final over that included three potential run outs.

Player of the match Satterthwaite took the wickets Nicola Hancock, Erin Osborne and took the valuable wicket of Georgia Elwiss, bowled for 20.

Elwiss got her revenge, taking Satterthwaite's scalp with a spectacular catch.

Satterthwaite has been unable to convert some promising starts of late, however she showed her power and poise in a knock that included a giant six.

The Stars began well with openers Lizelle Lee and Ange Reakes combining for a 65-run partnership before Lee was caught by Maitlan Brown at deep midwicket off the bowling of Georgia Wareham for 36
