Australia's renewable energy sector will outline its plans to provide cheap and reliable electricity at a summit in Adelaide.

The Smart Energy Summit will bring together investors and other key industry players on Thursday as the push towards more renewable energy continues.

Australian Solar Council chief executive John Grimes says household power prices have gone "through the roof" because of a broken national energy market.

"Renewables are the cheapest way to generate energy," Mr Grimes said.

"Investment in large-scale renewables and smart technology will not only bring down power bills, it will provide an abundant supply of energy for industry."
