A report has found there's widespread community and government ignorance of exploitation and human trafficking in Australia.

The paper, by the New South Wales Community Relations Commission, follows an inquiry which found exploitation continues to impact woman in the sex industry, and that forced marriages and labour exploitation also still occur.

The report also says a myth exists that human trafficking and slavery only affect women, pointing to the reported incidence of exploitation of male workers on 457 visas.

The head of the Commission's inquiry Stepan Kerkyasharian, spoke with Darren Mara about the report's findings.
