Halo Ahmed, a reporter for the Kurdish News outlet Rudaw, took a massive risk while trying to get an interview with Islamic State fighters in Iraq.

In the village of Kirkuk, in northern Iraq, the reporter walked across a contested bridge toward armed fighters, asking them if anyone would like to talk.

He approached the barrier erected by the militants, waving and asking if "anyone would like to talk to Rudaw?".

The armed militants refused to talk with the correspondent and warned him not to get any closer.
