Reynolds could play in Origin III

Adam Reynolds is confident a shoulder injury suffered in State of Origin II won't end his NRL season.

Luckless Adam Reynolds is confident a shoulder injury suffered in State of Origin II won't end his NRL season, and the South Sydney star is a chance of playing in game three.

Reynolds suffered the injury late in NSW's 26-16 loss in Origin II at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night, a result which confirmed Queensland's 10th series win in 11 years.

It was initially feared Reynolds, who has already spent time on the sidelines this season due to a broken jaw, could be out for an extended period.

However, the Rabbitohs halfback is hopeful that isn't the case.

"It feels pretty good at the moment, it doesn't feel like a season-ending injury, hopefully I will get some good news," Reynolds said on Thursday.

"I don't know if it came out or not. There was a lot of pain when it first happened and I tried to shrug it off. I tried to make another tackle and it felt pretty weak.

"We tried to strap it up but then it didn't feel good enough to go on."

Blues coach Laurie Daley hasn't ruled out having his No.7 available for game three in Sydney on July 13.

"Adam has to go and get scans, we are not sure what will happen there, he might be right," Daley said.

Jack Bird could be a surprise inclusion in the Blues halves for Origin III, after an impressive debut in Brisbane.

"He is a unique one because I'm not sure what his best position is," Daley said.

"But he is a footballer that just wants to play on the ball.

"He played really well, it was good to see he wasn't overawed by it, none of our new guys were and that is a positive for us.

"We would certainly look at it (playing Bird in the halves)."
