Surging property prices
This year property prices surged in many markets, particularly in Sydney, although that growth is starting to slow.
At the market's peak, I attended an auction in Sydney's inner west, and was very surprised at the kind of money being offered.
Can you guess how much this home sold for?
Granny flats boom
One way property owners looked to capitalise on the market was to build on their land, with secondary dwellings or granny flats exploding in popularity.
Earlier this year I spoke with an owner in the process of building on his property and a granny flat builder to find out what kind of homes are in demand.
The rise of sunset clauses
Not everyone was able to profit from the surging market, with some investors missing out because of what's known as 'sunset clauses'.
I spoke with one such person earlier this year, who despite waiting for two years for her investment property to be built, had it taken away from her, legally.
Finding lost super
A colleague of mine recently asked, how they can look for and consolidate their lost superannuation accounts into one?
I pointed her to this story, still topical today.
Marriage equality economics
The marriage equality debate stepped up a notch in 2015 so I decided to take a look at what kind of economic benefits it could have and found a number of small businesses looking forward to any change.
Technology fair
The CeBIT event is an opportunity for the public and business owners to check out how technology is changing and how it can help their business.
I visited the annual event earlier this year, and spoke with some interesting stall holders, including a 3D printing business owner.
Females in financial planning
The financial planning industry suffered a bit of a backlash in recent years with numerous financial planning scandals.
Interestingly though, males severely outweigh females in the sector, so why would or should more women become financial planners?
Future proof jobs
While Australia's unemployment rate improved by the end of the year, earlier it was above 6 per cent.
So I thought it'd be interesting to take a look at what kind of jobs would be 'future proofed'.
Green buildings
In the lead up to the Paris Climate Agreement, I wanted to take a look at what kind of things Australia is doing to help with sustainability.
I managed to score an exclusive with the owners of Barangaroo's International Tower 2 building which is leading the way globally, when it comes to building a 'green' office space.
Employees at the site, are enjoying the benefits.
