Research In Motion's net profit jumped 32 percent in its fiscal fourth quarter, boosted by strong global BlackBerry smartphone sales as it readies next month's North American launch of its PlayBook tablet computer.
The Canadian company reported net profit of $934 million, or $1.78 per share, on revenue of $5.6 billion, it said after the stock market closed on Thursday .
Analysts had, on average, expected earnings of $1.76 per share and revenue of $5.64 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
