Gina Rinehart has issued a blunt warning to Fairfax shareholders in another day of turmoil in the Australian media industry.

The mining magnate says she'll sell out shares of the beleagured company if her wishes for three board seats and editorial control are not granted.

Also, veteran TV executive David Leckie has quit as Channel Seven boss, while Fairfax has recalled an editor from its New Zealand operations to run the Melbourne Age.
