Spaniard Alex Rins claimed the second Moto2 win of his debut season in emphatic style at Phillip Island on Sunday.
Rins crossed the finish line more than six seconds ahead of second-placed British rider Sam Lowes (Speed Up Racing) with Lorenzo Baldassarri (Forward Racing Kalex) claiming the first podium of his career in third.
Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP40) moved into second spot in the championship rankings with the win, behind newly-crowned world champion Johann Zarco.
Zarco claimed the championship at last week's Japanese GP, but the Frenchman was off the pace in Australia and finished seventh.
Rins started from pole position but dropped back to third behind fellow Spaniard Axel Pons and Lowes heading into the first turn of the race.
However, Pons was deemed to have jumped the start and finished 24th after being hit with a ride-through penalty, while Lowe's Speed Up machine lacked the pace of Rins' Kalex, who was rarely troubled after re-taking the lead.
The only Australian representative on the grid, Technomag Racing's Joshua Hook finished 20th.
