Day 16, and the final day of the Rio Olympics, has brought more golden success for the Brazilian hosts but heartbreak for Australia in the men's basketball.
As the Games draw to a close, Australia's flag bearer for the closing ceremony has been announced as rowing golden girl Kim Brennan.
Men's Basketball
Australia's hopes of winning its first ever medal in the men's basketball have been shattered, during a nail biting 89-88 bronze medal match against Spain.
Australia was in front until just over five seconds to go, but were left in tears at the final buzzer.
It's the fourth time Australia has fought and lost a bronze playoff, with defeats too in Seoul 1988, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000.
The loss means the women's rugby sevens side was the only Australian team to medal at the games.
The United States thumped Serbia 96-66 to take the gold.
Closing Ceremony Flag Bearer
Rowing gold medallist, Kim Brennan, has been handed the honour of carrying Australia's flag at the closing ceremony of the Rio Olympic Games.
31-year-old Brennan was victorious in the women's single sculls, adding to the silver and bronze she won at the London Olympics four years ago.
It is the Canberra lawyer's third Olympics and she said carrying the flag with her teammates is something you could only dream of.
Men's Volleyball
The hosts of the Rio Olympics will finish the games 13th of the medal tally, after claiming gold in the men's volleyball.
Brazil downed Italy 3-0 as the home crowd celebrated the country's seventh gold medal of the games.
Football hero Neymar, who scored the winning shot in yesterday's gold medal penalty shootout, was at the Maracanazinho arena to watch the final.
The United States earlier beat Russia 3-2 to claim the bronze.
Men's Marathon
Kenya has taken the double in the Rio marathons, with Eliud Kipchoge claiming victory in the men's race.
Jemima Jelagat Sumgong made history last week by becoming the first Kenyan to win the women's marathon.
31-year-old Kipchoge completed the course in two hours, eight minutes and 44 seconds, on a rainy day in Rio.
Ethiopia's Feyisa Lilesa came in 70 seconds later to take silver, with American Galen Rupp winning bronze.

Men's Cross-Country Cycling
Australia's Dan McConnell has finished 16th in the men's cross-country cycling, after clawing back from a broken wheel at the beginning of the race.
Scott Bowden was 43rd.
Switzerland claimed gold, with the Czech Republic in second and Spain in third.
