Road death toll reaches ten

Ten people have been killed in two separate accidents on Australia's roads.



Five people were killed in a head on crash on the Princes Freeway at Lara, near Geelong south west of Melbourne.

Police say they believe a car, travelling on the wrong side of the Princes Freeway near Avalon Road, collided with another car travelling towards Melbourne just after 1am (AEDT) Saturday.

While on the Gold Coast five people died in a fiery crash on the Pacific Highway at Coomera.

Gold Coast Police say they believe two vehicles collided on the motorway at around 12.10 am (AEST) Saturday and one of the vehicles caught alight.
