Brisbane Roar have called in respected Socceroos staffers Les Gelis and Craig Duncan to help solve the A-League club's recurring injury problems.

Long-time national team physiotherapist Gelis and sports scientist Duncan cast a watchful eye over the team's training session at Ballymore on Thursday morning.

It comes as coach John Aloisi prepares to juggle his depleted squad through two home games in four days, starting with Friday night's clash with Western Sydney at Suncorp Stadium.

"They've come up to see what's going on, how we're working," Aloisi told reporters.

"I know them well, they know me well. They're great at what they do and great people.

"The Socceroos have been fortunate to have them involved for so long as especially Les, who I've known since I made my debut with the national team at 21. We go back a few years.

"It's good to have them here and just pick their brain on a few things."

Aloisi said last month the Roar had to look outside the club for insight on the root causes of their "ridiculous" casualty list, amid concerns it could be linked to the team's training facilities or understaffed sports science department.

Seven first-team players are currently nursing injuries - goalkeeper Michael Theo (finger), marquee Brett Holman (calf), defender Jade North (groin), winger Eric Bautheac (hamstring), midfielder Joe Caletti (ankle), utility Ivan Franjic (quad) and forward Nick D'Agostino (ankle).

Captain Matt McKay and stopper Avraam Papadopoulos are also suspended for two more games.

However, Aloisi confirmed Daniel Bowles (hamstring) would be fit to return against the Wanderers, while one or two others may be available for the Sky Blues clash.

"At the moment we're not thinking too much about Monday, we're mainly focusing on tomorrow," Aloisi said.

"We want to put out an XI that's going to win the game.

"But we also have to keep in mind the quick turnaround and we'll decide after the game whether we can rotate any players or freshen up some players for the next game."

Meanwhile, Aloisi was reluctant to comment on a decision from FFA not to postpone their January 27 A-League clash against the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford, which comes three days before a likely AFC Champions League play-off in China.

"I'll make comment on that later down the track. I think everyone knows my thoughts about it anyway," he said.
