The 21-year-old notched his first A-League goal in their dramatic 4-3 loss to Adelaide United a fortnight ago, then made it two in two games with a stunning last-gasp winner last Friday against Sydney FC.
Having inked a two-year contract extension, Wenzel-Halls is suddenly the Roar's main forward option heading into Saturday's clash with league leaders Perth following Adam Taggart's transfer to an unnamed South Korean club, believed to be Suwon Bluewings.
Having been forced to ease his way into his first A-League campaign, Wenzel-Halls says those strikes against Adelaide and Sydney have been crucial to his own belief as he prepares to lead the line for the Roar for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
"The biggest thing for me is I've proven to myself that I can score goals in the A-League, so that gives me a lot of confidence," he said.
"It feels to good to be there but that's where I need to stay now. How I've been playing is the expectation and I've just got to keep building on that personally."
Wenzel-Halls is likely to be partnered up front for the Glory clash with Nicholas D'Agostino.
Interim coach Darren Davies says he wants his young forwards to relish the opportunity being presented to them over the last nine matches of the season.
"I definitely won't be putting a huge responsibility on those young players," Davies said.
"We have lost a number of bodies, with Adam going as well, but again it provides opportunity.
"Over the course of the last however many weeks we've given young players extended game time, they've developed well, they've taken their opportunity and tomorrow's another chance."
