Roberts back under eye of NRL

James Roberts' behaviour is again being investigated by the NRL, with the Brisbane star reported to have allegedly pulled the hair of a woman at a nightclub.

James Roberts' off-field behaviour is again under the spotlight, with the NRL this time investigating the Brisbane centre for an alleged nightclub incident.

Roberts was at the centre of News Corp Australia reports on Tuesday, which claimed he forcefully pulled a young woman by her hair at a Gold Coast nightspot, Love, over the weekend.

The Broncos informed the NRL of the allegations on Monday night, and by Tuesday morning the code's integrity unit were already looking into the latest matter involving the troubled player.

"Both the NRL and the club are making enquiries into the matter," an NRL spokesman told AAP.

"Because he's had previous breaches it makes it more important that we look at it ourselves."

It's reported Roberts allegedly grabbed the 23-year-old woman from behind early on Sunday night, yanking her head back causing pain to her neck before he was removed from the premises.

The woman is reportedly reluctant to make an official complaint and Queensland police confirmed to AAP late on Tuesday that none had been lodged.

Broncos chief executive Paul White also said the club had also not received a complaint and was not made aware of the alleged incident until informed by the media.

"I immediately notified the NRL integrity unit and they have subsequently commenced their inquiries," White said in a statement.

"The club supports these enquiries being conducted independently and expediently, will offer any assistance and support required and will only make further comment once the process has been completed."

If Roberts was found to have committed any wrongdoing, it would be the second time the 23-year-old has earned the ire of Brisbane after moving to the club just a year ago.

He was fined $20,000 by the Broncos last year following allegations he abused a female staff member in a drunken incident at the Normanby Hotel in Brisbane when he was refused service.

He checked into a rehabilitation facility in Thailand at the end of the NRL season.

Roberts made his debut at South Sydney in 2011, but was sacked the following season after what the club claimed were breaches of his playing contracts.

He was picked up by Penrith, but sacked two seasons later following a number of behavioural issues allegedly culminated in him smashing a taxi window in 2014.

He was then moved to the Gold Coast, and was fined $3000 later that year by the club after he was arrested during a boozy night out for public nuisance and obstructing police - charges that were later dropped in court.

He enjoyed a drama-free 2015 season, before a contract bungle at the fault of the Titans saw him shift to the Broncos, where he found more success on the field amid August's controversy off it.
