Emerging prop Tom Robertson has re-signed with Australian Rugby and the NSW Waratahs until the end of 2020.

The 23-year-old, who made his Test debut against Argentina in Perth last year, has won 13 of his 15 caps off the bench, earning starts against Fiji and Scotland in June.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika said the Sydney University medical student was still young for a Test prop and had the chance to really nail down a spot for both the Waratahs and Wallabies.

"He's managed to juggle his studies successfully up to this point and that's a real credit to Tom but also to Sydney University who have been very supportive of him," Cheika said.

"We're building some real depth across the front row and Tom is definitely part of that but he'll have to continue stepping up as he has done in the past season."
