NBA star Dennis Rodman, known for his flamboyant fashions and to have once dated pop icon Madonna, has pledged eternal friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un at a basketball game in Pyongyang.
The Swiss-educated Kim, believed to be in his late 20s, is reported to be a huge fan of basketball and the Chicago Bulls, with whom Rodman won three NBA titles alongside Michael Jordan in the 1990s.

"You have a friend for life," Rodman told Kim in a speech after a match between a North Korean side against a US team featuring members of the Harlem Globetrotters.The game ended in a diplomatic 110-110 tie.

Rodman's visit came as the UN Security Council is still debating how to punish North Korea for carrying out the February 12 nuclear test that triggered global outrage and condemnation.

North Korea and the United States, an ally of South Korea, have never had diplomatic relations.The trip was organised by New York-based media company VICE. The US State Department said Washington had nothing to say about Rodman's trip.
