Roos pair ruled out for rest of AFL season

North Melbourne duo Ben Jacobs and Mitchell Hibberd have been ruled out for the remainder of the AFL season.

Struggling North Melbourne have ruled out Ben Jacobs and Mitchell Hibberd for the rest of the AFL season.

Rookie defender Hibberd will have surgery after injuring his shoulder during Saturday's loss to Port Adelaide, while Jacobs won't be risked after undergoing a minor procedure on his foot last week.

Jacobs has endured rotten luck with ankle and foot problems keeping him from playing an AFL game since round eight last season.

The 25-year-old, who built a niche as a tagger in 2015, had been poised to return last month before suffering his latest setback.

Hibberd will be sidelined for up to six months, having played four games in his debut season.
