North Melbourne's forward pack led the way as the Kangaroos enjoyed a runaway 70-point win over an injury-plagued Richmond in Hobart.
It was carnage at times at Bellerive Oval on Friday night as the Kangaroos demoralised the Tigers 18.16 (124) to 7.12 (54).
The Roos booted five goals in less than 10 minutes at the start of the third quarter to open a 57-point margin from which the Tigers never recovered.
Before play had even started Richmond lost defender Dylan Grimes to a suspected hamstring complaint.
He was the first of four Tigers to fall, with just one fit player left on the bench by the final siren.
Steven Morris was stretchered from the ground with a knee injury nine minutes after the first bounce.
Key forward Ben Griffiths was visibly in pain, grabbing at his ankle, and taken off mid-way through the third quarter.
Nick Vlastuin was also sidelined after knocking his cheekbone.
Despite missing star ruckman Todd Goldstein - ruled out an hour before play due to a knee injury suffered last round - North Melbourne shone.
Club stalwart Brent Harvey, playing his 420th game, found the middle pegs four times, bringing up his 500th goal.
Daniel Wells was valuable for the Roos with 30 disposals and three goals.
Majak Daw, who replaced Goldstein, finished with 19 hit outs and a goal in front of a record AFL Bellerive crowd of 17,844 on a chilly night.
When the Tigers managed possession they scrambled kicks and quickly lost the ball.
Missed opportunities were costly for Richmond in the first quarter with Ty Vickery, Corey Ellis and Kane Lambert each missing goals that would have kept Richmond up to speed.
Their best included Shaun Grigg with 38 disposals and Shaun Hampson with 51 hit outs, while Jack Riewoldt and Vickery top-scored with two goals each.
Kangaroos stand-in coach Darren Crocker, filling in for an ill Brad Scott, said the side rebounded well after last week's loss to Sydney.
"It was a really professional, clinical performance - your coach goes down, your all-Australian ruckman (Goldstein) doesn't come up, but to still be able to do what they did was very professional," he told reporters.
In concerning news for North, defender Sam Wright will have scans on a sprained ankle suffered in the final quarter.
Richmond's Damien Hardwick said there was nothing positive for his side to take home from Hobart.
"They blitzed us early and we didn't stand up to their pressure," the coach said.
"You can sit there and say we've got some injuries but the reality is they were very good early and we were poor.
"(I) thought we fumbled the ball, didn't handle the conditions well ... and (it) made (us) look like a bunch of schoolboys."
