North Melbourne are looking to use the big stage of a maiden AFLW double header to reaffirm their premiership credentials after suffering their first defeat of the season.
The Roos take on winless Collingwood in the first game at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, with the Western Bulldogs to host Melbourne in the second match.
North had taken all before them in their first AFLW season and were quickly installed as favourites for the flag on their way to a 4-0 start before Adelaide handed them a 35-point defeat.
The Magpies have failed to fire again and will miss the finals for the third season in a row but the Kangaroos aren't taking them lightly.
"It's going to be a good contest; they've got nothing to lose and that's dangerous," North defender Jess Duffin said on Wednesday.
"We've just got to bounce back, ... good sides bounce back.
"Credit to Adelaide but I think we just panicked a little bit at times, especially coming out of the back half."
The Crows climbed to the top of Conference A with the win, leaving the Kangaroos second and Fremantle third, all three with 4-1 win-loss records.
The Demons are fourth on three wins with the Dogs bottom with two victories.
Melbourne must defeat the reigning premiers to stay in touch with the top two with two rounds remaining in the regular season.
"We're not looking any further than Saturday's game ... a lot of things have to fall our way if we're going to be there at finals time," Melbourne's Elise O'Dea said.
"For us it's all about bringing that consistent four-quarter effort.
"I think at times we've shown what we're capable but stringing that together for four quarters is the challenge for us."
