The Sydney Roosters will roll the dice at the NRL judiciary and challenge the reckless high tackle charge levelled against forward Zane Tetevano that threatens to rub him out for the NRL finals.

The Roosters hard man won't be alone in facing the panel on Tuesday night, with Manly prop Darcy Lussick also trying to clear his name of a tripping charge.

Tetevano was charged with a grade-three reckless high tackle for his hit that knocked out Gold Coast rookie Ben Nakubuwai late in Saturday's win.

Facing a three-match ban if he pleaded guilty, the Roosters will attempt to convince the panel that Tetevano's shot was worthy of the lesser careless charge.

If they are successful in doing so, he could face either a fine or a one-week ban for the Roosters' qualifying final against Brisbane at Allianz Stadium this Friday night.

However if they fail and the panel deems his hit reckless, his season will end with a five-match suspension.

Meanwhile, Lussick will attempt to beat the tripping charge which threatens to rule him out of the Sea Eagles' elimination final against Penrith.

Lussick was on his back after missing a tackle when the Panthers' Peter Wallace went to run past him. Lussick raised his arm and leg and appeared to make contact with Wallace's shin.

The offence usually would've resulted in a fine, however he has already been convicted of two other offences this season.

Manly captain Daly Cherry-Evans admitted on Monday that any suspension for Lussick would be a serious blow for the Sea Eagles.

"Darcy has been an integral part of our season," Cherry-Evans said.

"He's really found his legs in the last couple of weeks and he's played some really strong football for us up front.

"I've got my fingers crossed for him that he will be able to find a way to play this weekend."
