Roosters want to stay at fortress Allianz

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson says his team have made a point to fall in love with Allianz Stadium, and they want to stay there for the NRL finals.

Make no mistake, it may not have the hill of Leichhardt or the one-eyed volatility of Brookvale but Allianz Stadium is the Sydney Roosters' home.

And coach Trent Robinson and his men are determined to keep it that way for the NRL finals.

The Tri-colours have lost just one game at the ground this season, and have the best home record in the NRL in 2017.

"It's not just by accident," Robinson said. "We do a lot of work on that.

"We love playing here, we love walking in here and the boys love playing here."

The Roosters will be without Queensland prop Dylan Napa (rested) for Saturday's clash with the Gold Coast, but a win will ensure they can stay at their Moore Park base until grand final day.

While the likes of Cronulla and Manly could use the ground as a home during this year's finals series, Robinson is making no secrets of whose house it is.

"People talk about this stadium being a neutral stadium, but it's not to us," he said.

"We value playing here, we love playing here.

"We've got to make sure we nail it tomorrow to keep that."

Robinson hasn't allowed his troops to discuss the prospect of a Sydney-based run to the grand final.

That, he said, would be an incorrect mindset by any team.

But it's no secret the advantage it would bring.

Five of their seven losses have come outside of Sydney this year, while sticking in their home city would allow for a clear rhythm through the finals.

It's also the path they followed when they won their most recent title in 2013.

The Roosters have more than just a point to prove about Allianz Stadium.

Despite sitting second going into the final round, their ability to put together an 80-minute performance has been regularly questioned this season.

They won both halves of a game of football just four times this season, but Robinson said his team were ready to show their title worth.

"You (the media) have been pretty vocal about us not being there," he said.

"We are sitting in third and we are a chance to get into second. We'll prove our point when it becomes time."

STATS THAT MATTER

* The Sydney Roosters have won 10 games by six points or less this year -- the most in the club's history.

* The Roosters are aiming for five straight home wins for the first time since 2013.

* The Gold Coast haven't scored a point for five straight first halves -- the longest streak in the NRL era.
