The 4th annual AACTA Awards ended on an historic note on Thursday night-- with two films being awarded best picture.

A draw was declared between Russell Crowe's directorial debut 'The Water Diviner'-- and the critically acclaimed horror 'The Babadook'.

ABC television series 'The Code' was one of the night's big winners, taking out Best Television Drama Actor (Ash Zukerman), Director (Shawn Seet), Supporting Actress (Chelsie Preston Crayford) and Best Drama Series.

Australian actress Rose Byrne was awarded the AACTA Trailblazer Award, which recognises exceptional achievement of Australians working in the global industry.
The award for Best Light Entertainment Series went to Hamish and Andy's Gap Year.
In the film categories, David Gulpilil took out the Best Lead Actor award for his role in Charlie’s Country and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

This year's awards were hosted by Cate Blanchett and Deborah Mailman.
