After saying she would like to play US President Donald Trump's controversial adviser Steve Bannon on Saturday Night Live, comedien Rosie O'Donnell has apparently changed her Twitter profile picture to make herself look like him.

O'Donnell's offer to play the chief strategist came after actor Melissa McCarthy's caustic portrayal of White House press secretary Sean Spicer on the NBC comedy show last weekend.
O'Donnell's new Twitter picture appears to be a digitally altered picture of Bannon with her face replacing his.

But she would not appear on the NBC show this weekend, her spokeswoman said on Friday.

O'Donnell and Trump have publicly feuded in the past, with Trump making derogatory comments about O'Donnell's looks and weight.

Aside from her trending Twitter photo, O'Donnell has also retweeted messages in support of her playing Bannon on SNL, as well as tweeting her praise for Alec Baldwin as Trump ("nobody does it better").

"Available - if called I will serve," she tweeted on Monday about taking on Bannon on SNL.

McCarthy's surprise appearance as Spicer last weekend garnered rave reviews from critics and fans.

Since then, Christine Baranski has voiced her interest in portraying Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

SNL cast member Kate McKinnon portrayed DeVos in last week's Spicer skit.
