Round seven NRL snapshot

A snapshot of round-seven NRL action.

HOW ROUND SEVEN OF THE NRL PLAYED OUT:

* Quote of the Round: "I hope Sam's happy that Sezer doesn't lay down for him," Canberra coach Ricky Stuart, when asked about the shot that saw Burgess placed on report. It came after Burgess accused Josh Morris of acting up an injury earlier this month.

* Man of the Round: Without Shaun Johnson and against the previously undefeated St George Illawarra, Issac Luke starred with a try, had three linebreaks and made 103 metres as he was involved in everything to help the Warriors to second on the ladder.

* Stat that Matters: Parramatta's efforts to turn around 54-0 loss to Manly last month to a 44-10 defeat of the same club was the biggest head-to-head turnaround in 16 years.

* Magic Moment: Second-rower Jamie Buhrer's cross-field kick for Shaun Kenny-Dowall in his 150th match secured Newcastle victory over the Wests Tigers.

* Talking Point: What exactly constitutes a drop kick? Billy Slater was awarded his controversial try against Brisbane after the bunker claimed he intentionally dropped the ball to kick it, before making contact after it bounced back off the ground. By the laws of the game it's a drop kick, but players, coaches, commentators and the man himself were miffed by the rule.

* Judiciary Watch: South Sydney - Sam Burgess (high tackle), George Burgess (high tackle); Canberra - Elliott Whitehead (dangerous contact); Brisbane - Matthew Lodge (dangerous throw); Manly - Taniela Paseka (dangerous contact); Penrith - Reagan Campbell-Gillard (crusher tackle).

* Casualty Ward: Sydney Roosters - Jake Friend (concussion); Warriors - Shaun Johnson (groin); Brisbane - Andrew McCullough (elbow); Melbourne - Jesse Bromwich (knee); North Queensland - John Asiata (pectoral); Newcastle - Mitchell Pearce (pectoral); Parramatta - Jarryd Hayne (hip); Manly - Brad Parker (knee); Cronulla - Luke Lewis (calf).

* Under pressure: Manly have now lost three straight and are a team under siege following the Jackson Hastings affair.
