Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has returned home to Brisbane after farewelling The Lodge.
Mr Rudd and his wife Therese Rein touched down about 8.30pm (AEST) and were whisked away to an awaiting car.
A fan of Mr Rudd, Kevin Hamilton, said he was still a strong supporter of the ousted leader.
"He's still Mr Prime Minister as far as I'm concerned," he told AAP at the airport.
Earlier in the day, before leaving Canberra, Mr Rudd said he was proud of his achievements in the almost three years his family had spent living in the official prime ministerial residence.
"It was here that Therese did so much work with indigenous Australia, indigenous literacy and also supported the disabled," he said.
"At a more practical level we have done a few things here too.
The vegie garden has started down the back there and there is more work to be done."
