Rudd going to Canberra for Syria briefing

The prime minister will head back to Canberra after a leaders debate in western Sydney on Wednesday night.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will fly back to Canberra after a leaders' debate in Sydney so he can receive an intelligence update on the Syrian crisis.

Mr Rudd is debating Opposition Leader Tony Abbott at the Rooty Hill RSL Club in western Sydney on Wednesday evening.

After the event he will head to Canberra and receive the briefing on Syria on Thursday morning.

Following this, Mr Rudd will fly to Melbourne to resume his election campaign, a Labor campaign spokesman said.
