Former prime minister Kevin Rudd has left the Lodge for good.
Rudd and his family have lived in the offiicial PM's residence in Canberra since Labor beat John Howard's Liberals in 2007.
Rudd yesterday missed out on a cabinet position in Julia Gillard's minor ministerial reshuffle .. but the new leader promised to give him a senior post if Labor wins the next election.
Rudd's youngest son, Marcus, who turns 17 this year is still at school in Canberra.
Julia Gillard has said she won't move in to the lodge until, and if, Labor wins the next election.
