Speculation that Kevin Rudd might bow out of politics has ended with the Labor Party confirming his nomination in the Brisbane seat of Griffith.
"The ALP has lodged all its nominations, all candidates are in," a spokeswoman told AAP. Mr Rudd is listed as the Labor candidate for Griffith on the party's website.
The Australian Electoral Commission will formally declare all candidates on Thursday at noon, when nominations close.
Speculation had surrounded the former prime minister's future in Canberra after reports surfaced last week that he was considering a United Nations appointment.
Mr Rudd later said he would serve a full term if re-elected but was considering a part-time UN role as a climate change adviser.

Mr Rudd's campaign posters have also raised eyebrows after he omitted the Labor logo.
Unlike the advertising of other Labor candidates, the logo cannot be seen on any of Mr Rudd's campaign posters.
His 2007 campaign posters contained the logo.
