Kevin Rudd is tipped to visit Tasmania while Tony Abbott could move onto the Northern Territory, as the first week of the 2013 campaign draws to a close.

A day before their first debate at the National Press Club, the leaders will be on opposite sides of the country.

It will be Mr Rudd's first visit to the Tasmania, where Labor holds four of the five seats and where retaining those will be crucial to the ALP's chances on September 7.

Mr Abbott is expected to fly from Brisbane to Northern Territory on Saturday, where he will attend the Garma Festival in Arnhem Land.

Mr Rudd and Mr Abbott will go head-to-head on Sunday night, with the debate in Canberra to be broadcast by all the networks.
