Russell Crowe has turned 50 with little fanfare.
Crowe, who has been busy promoting the biblical epic Noah across Europe, marked the milestone birthday on Monday, April 7.
The Oscar-winning actor took to twitter to thank fans for the well wishes.
"Thanks to all of you who have sent birthday messages, very kind of you," he tweeted.
Crowe has achieved much success since he started his acting career on Australian soap Neighbours.
Between 1997 and 2003 Crowe starred in five Oscar nominated films.
The New Zealand-born, Australian-raised actor was nominated for three consecutive Best Actor Academy Awards - for The Insider, Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind. Crowe took home the Oscar for his role as gladiator Maximus in 2000.
