Oscar winning actor Russell Crowe could pocket up to $3.7 million as he auctions an eclectic mix of possessions, including memorabilia from 20 movies.
Saturday's auction of Crowe's prized possessions will be "cathartic" as the actor comes to terms with his divorce from Danielle Spencer, which was reportedly finalised last year despite their 2012 separation.
The actor stands to make anywhere between $2.6 million to $3.7 million from the Sydney auction, where the priciest item - the 1986 Grammy Award presented to Johnny Cash - is estimated to sell for up to $300,000.
Auction house Sotherby's Australia CEO Gary Singer says the event, titled 'The Art of Divorce', has been a year in the making and will be held on Crowe's birthday and wedding anniversary.

"It's cathartic having a bit of a clean out," Mr Singer told AAP.
"(Crowe) said, 'It's a watershed moment in my life. I need to deal with it in some way, to understand.'"
As part of the sale, the actor will part with numerous artworks, sporting memorabilia, musical instruments, 28 watches and 19 varieties of diamond jewellery.
Some of the auction's most unique items include a fully functioning replica Roman chariot from the film Gladiator (2000), along with two life-size prop horses used during its production.
