Video of a Russian man blessing cats in a monastery has gone viral on Russia's social networks.

Video of a man blessing cats during a religious procession at a monastery in the small Russia town of Kozelsk, has gone viral on Russian social networks.

According to a press officer at the Optina Pustyn monastery, the man, who goes by the name of Kuzmich, has lived at the complex for more than 10 years.

The press officer said he performs the ritual of walking with the cats and blessing them every day.

He's also said to walk around the whole territory of the monastery and bless the buildings.

The cats who are with Kuzmich on the video also live at the monastery.

The press officer said they follow him around, because he feeds and cares for them.
